Matariki

Last week on Friday PES celebrated Matariki day, even though the actual date is from July the 13 to 16 we still wanted to celebrate it last week. Matariki is about celebrating new beginnings and new life. This is the way PES celebrates the day a week before we had done a survey and picked what we want to do, there were four options for us .

Around the time of Matariki at night time or at 6:00 a clock when the moon is still in the sky you can see seven stars. Matariki is also known as the seven sisters which are Tupu-ā-nuku, Tupu-ā-rangi, Waipunarangi, Waitī, Waitā, and Ururangi. Each sister represents something. For example Waiti help all the ocean, sea, river, and more.

My Highlight for the day was that I got to be in crafts also that I got to draw what all the seven stars of what Matariki was about. In my class we got to make these star crafts using paper so first we drew what each star is about then we coloured it in. Last if we were finished then we were able to make a origami kite it is harder then you think.

A game of cards

Kia Ora this morning my teacher Mrs Telea read us a book called A game of cards. On the top of my poster it shows the new words I learnt from this book and some these words were words I couldn't were explain properly so I gave examples to some of them instead. In the right corner of my poster it shows two maps if your wondering why their there this is why, one of the maps I put up was just for fun and it shows where the author is from. The second one shows where the Marae was from the book.

Taha Tinana - Fitness + Hygiene

Our physical bodies need to stay fit and clean. Our families and homes are where we learn the basic But very important steps for this.

Here are four example of what happens in my family:
The first is that me and my siblings always try to play outside or play at least one sport everyday. The second thing that we do in my family is that my parents always try and go to the gym everyday at night. The third thing we do is that my parent always try there best to remember that they need to get new tooth brushes. The forth thing is that my Parent are always trying to make our dinners at least with some vegetables or with something healthy for us.

Taha Hinengaro

Being someone who is grateful is important. It means to appreciate what you have or what you might receive from other people. For example if you and your family don't have enough sauce for your hot dog, just be grateful that there is some.

Here is 5 things I am grateful for today:

The first thing I am grateful for is my parents because they are always making sure that we have everything ready for school.

The second thing I am grateful for is my sisters they always help me to clean my room.

The third thing I am grateful for is my brothers, because they mostly like to help me with my chores.

The fourth thing I am grateful for is my Parents because they are always making sure we have dinner on time.

The fifth thing I am grateful for is my family because they are always very helpful and supportive

Fridays Assembly

Our Special assembly

Normally on Friday mornings our whole school has a school assembly like normal. But today was different, a special guest came to our school assembly and it was Joseph Parker and his Sister I was excited when I saw them both at Pt England school.

One of the things that Joseph Parker quoted to us was to Believe in yourselves and Nothing beats hard work and that's one of the things that I learnt today.

Two things that I wanted or if a could ask him would be Who was your model? and also How old were you when you first started boxing?.

Last but not least I'd like to say thank to the person that organised this and helped him to be at our Assembly it was very entertaining to see a very special person here.

Biomes

Biomes

Today for inquiry I learned more about marine biomes. Here is the definition of biomes from the dictionary: a large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat, e.g. forest or tundra. So it's basically a large group of similar ecosystems. And here's one biome from earth.

The Marine Biome
It is the largest biome on earth. It cover about 70% of the earth's surface it also has salt water. Here's a list of animal's that live in the marine:

- Fish
- Octopus
- Sea horse
- Whales
- Seal's
- Blue Whale
- Polar bear
- Sea Otter
- Dolphin

The magical tree house

Today one of the things I had to do was fix up or edit my narrative writing from my recent test. It took quite  while but it makes more sense now.
One day when this group of teenagers was walking to their house’s one of them, out of the blue Chase said that they should walk into the forest and dare each other stuff. It took them forever to say yes and they finally did. While they began walking they walked into a lot of trees, by now they were all tired of walking. Then out of the blues they came across this weird looking little house. They said to each other that the house may be this famous wizard’s house that heals people, because it looked so much alike. So they went to go nock on the door, the first time they nock no one answer they nock two more times and no one answers so they go in anyways.
Then, the famous wizard comes out of nowhere thinking that they're there to get healed. When thinking that he shoved them into his house that has turned gigantic, at this point their amazed but also feeling awkward because out of nowhere this tall man shoved  them inside. They are all wondering if they should run out of the house or if they should stay for a little more longer. They all thought for a second.
One of them thought that if they chose to run he might of locked them all up in a cellar. The curious person in the group was tired and want to see if they could really get healed. While the rest of them blamed Chase for getting them all into it.
In that case if they stay for a little longer they might have a chance of getting out and going home.

Our school's assembly

This morning Pt England school finally an actual school assembly at this assembly Mr Burt an some people from our school about how Mr Burt / our Principle got an award from the Queen. It's the fifteenth of June an it had been 14 or more weeks since we had our last assembly, so I was delighted to come to the assembly especially when team five an I was going sing song for our Principle Mr Burt and his wife Mrs Burt.

We began with a normal assembly, then Mrs Nua came up to welcome the very important people that helps our school they all said a little speech then Pisirina said how thankful an glad we all were to have a Principle like him. After that, Aj (one of our Prefex) said a prayer in honour of this award straight after Aj said the prayer we sang Ufiufi lou agaga.

The thing that I mostly enjoyed at the assembly was sitting down an being able to be with everyone at our school like we used to I liked how our principle got chosen to get an award from the QUEEN. So I'd like to say a BIG thank you to Mr and Mrs Burt because with out them it would to a big difference and we would probably not have Chromebooks.
