My goals for the term

Here are my three Goals for literacy for this term.

My first goal is to try and move nine months for my reading. I want to achieve this goal because I want to read at an twelve year old reading level.

My second goal is to read every night for 30mins / read more through out the day. I am gonna try an achieve this goal because I am supposed to read every night but I don't. Also it would be very helpful if I achieve this goal because this goal can help with achieving my first goal that I set.

My third and final goal is to learn more vocabulary words. The reason why I chose to set this as one of my goals is because I don't really know that much vocabulary words so I am gonna try to learn at least 5-10 words every week.

Our immersion assembly

PES Immersion assembly

Welcome back this term is term three and do you know what that means, well this term were focusing on on the saying of A world of different. We have immersion assemblies in the beginning of every new term this means we have four of these every year. I love how every team from our school get to show or share what there gonna be doing for the term. Here is a list of things that I remember from this mornings immersion assembly:

Team one's presentation: shared what there doing for this term in a video they talked about how their gonna be learning about how people from around the world get to school, what they have for lunch, what they do after school and more things about what people do during the day. Moving on I am now gonna share with what Team two is focusing on this term.

Team two also shared what their doing for this term in a video too except they said they were gonna learn about places in New Zealand and than they are gonna learn about different places from around the world. Also in there video Dora the explorer styled the world tour in her own way and that's what made it awesome.

Team three talked about an Amazing race through land marks or structures from around. One of the places they showed in the video they was New York.

Team four is gonna be learning about food from all around the world for this term. The thing I enjoyed from this is that all the teachers in team four talked in the video that they made. Now I am gonna share what I am learning about for this term.

This term Team five is going to be learning about different myths or legends from around the world. The teachers from five was acting out the story of Sina and the Eel. I can't to start learning about this for inquiry this term.

Two reasons why I like having Immersion assembly's in the beginning of every term is because our teachers get to share what we will be learning about for the term. Also I enjoy watching what other people are learning for the term.

Taha Hinengaro

Being someone who is grateful is important. It means to appreciate what you have or what you might receive from other people. For example if you and your family don't have enough sauce for your hot dog, just be grateful that there is some.

Here is 5 things I am grateful for today:

The first thing I am grateful for is my parents because they are always making sure that we have everything ready for school.

The second thing I am grateful for is my sisters they always help me to clean my room.

The third thing I am grateful for is my brothers, because they mostly like to help me with my chores.

The fourth thing I am grateful for is my Parents because they are always making sure we have dinner on time.

The fifth thing I am grateful for is my family because they are always very helpful and supportive

The second thing I did was have a family meal with everyone that I live with.

The third thing I enjoyed was watching movies with my siblings on Sunday.

The magical tree house

Today one of the things I had to do was fix up or edit my narrative writing from my recent test. It took quite  while but it makes more sense now.
One day when this group of teenagers was walking to their house’s one of them, out of the blue Chase said that they should walk into the forest and dare each other stuff. It took them forever to say yes and they finally did. While they began walking they walked into a lot of trees, by now they were all tired of walking. Then out of the blues they came across this weird looking little house. They said to each other that the house may be this famous wizard’s house that heals people, because it looked so much alike. So they went to go nock on the door, the first time they nock no one answer they nock two more times and no one answers so they go in anyways.
Then, the famous wizard comes out of nowhere thinking that they're there to get healed. When thinking that he shoved them into his house that has turned gigantic, at this point their amazed but also feeling awkward because out of nowhere this tall man shoved  them inside. They are all wondering if they should run out of the house or if they should stay for a little more longer. They all thought for a second.
One of them thought that if they chose to run he might of locked them all up in a cellar. The curious person in the group was tired and want to see if they could really get healed. While the rest of them blamed Chase for getting them all into it.
In that case if they stay for a little longer they might have a chance of getting out and going home.

Narrative Structure

This morning we discussed the Structures of a narrative writing. Now before we write a narrative story we use TOPS, it stands for Title, Orientation, Problem and Solution.

Taha Hinengaro

This morning Nina explained her way of how she meditates. She used meditation as her way to clear her mid. A soundtrack was played, sounds of nature was in the background while Nina was focused on clearing her mind. Here's five ways you could clear your mind.

First way how you could is by listening to relaxing music, try not to listen to music that has words try go for music with just sound. Second go for a run. Third take a nap, even if its just for half an hour. Fourth you can meditate for 4 or more minutes. Last but not least you can just go into a room and embrace silence.

Genius Hour@PES

Today we learned about how the Google company allows their workers to use 20% of their working hours to work on a passion that they have. This is known as ''Genius hour'' Our class came up with a list of our passions. We will be working on these things in the next weeks to come in our very own ''Genius hour''.

I am very exited to start on baking new recipes for this project.
