Matariki

Last week on Friday PES celebrated Matariki day, even though the actual date is from July the 13 to 16 we still wanted to celebrate it last week. Matariki is about celebrating new beginnings and new life. This is the way PES celebrates the day a week before we had done a survey and picked what we want to do, there were four options for us .

Around the time of Matariki at night time or at 6:00 a clock when the moon is still in the sky you can see seven stars. Matariki is also known as the seven sisters which are Tupu-ā-nuku, Tupu-ā-rangi, Waipunarangi, Waitī, Waitā, and Ururangi. Each sister represents something. For example Waiti help all the ocean, sea, river, and more.

My Highlight for the day was that I got to be in crafts also that I got to draw what all the seven stars of what Matariki was about. In my class we got to make these star crafts using paper so first we drew what each star is about then we coloured it in. Last if we were finished then we were able to make a origami kite it is harder then you think.
